Small group course for all those who wish to deepen their knowledge of the ashtanga vinyasa system. We will break down the poses from the 1st series, looking at alignment and weaving in the 3 elements of breath, bandha and dristi to help build a fuller understanding of ashtanga as a whole method.
We will cover the deeper aspects of chanting, breath control and meditation, and explore how the sutras and philosophy are intertwined within the system. By Integrating all aspects we will take your practice to the the next level of awareness, allowing its subtleties to unfold and blossom.
This course is designed to deepen an existing practice, but also can be a great avenue for those interested in learning the sequence of Ashtanga Yoga
The course is divided into 4 parts which can be taken as full course or individual modules. Limited to 6 spaces.
Introduction to the practice. Establishing breath control and core strength as we move through and breakdown of the first half of the primary series. We will focus on technique and alignment. and explore how the sutras are interwoven into the physical practice. By connecting with the subtleties of breath, bandha and dristi we can deepen our experience of the first half of the primary series, or if new to the Ashtanga its an opportunity to learn the sequence with modifications offered for all postures. We will also explore how the Sutras intertwine with the practice.
A breakdown of the second half of the primary series, focusing on technique, philososphy and meditation. Modifications will be given and we will work in a progressive way towards the more advanced poses.

Putting it all together – a full primary series practice with modifications. This class will review the previous class practices and then will focus on key techniques to develop a dynamic and fluid vinyasa. We will also look at how the Sutras are intertwined into the physical practice.
Introduction to mysore style, self practice with adjustments, pranayama and meditation.
And a further look at how we are guided by the Sutras.
