Yoga is an ancient science which uses postures and breathing to cleanse the body and calm the mind.

It unites mind, breath and body which can become so separate in our modern world.

The Benefits

By bringing awareness to the entire body ( physically, emotionally, energetically) it brings us out of our heads (mind chatter) and into our being.  Yoga breaks our habitual patterns, physically realigning us and consequently breaking our mental habitual patterns and mentally realigning us.  Through postural alignment the physical body is self supporting, and no one muscle group is over working, which in turn creates a strong, healthy body and prevents injury.  When our bodies are free, our minds are also freed – thus yoga is described as having a relaxing and calming affect on the mind.

“Ashtanga Yoga is a breathing practice – the rest is just bending” a quote from Pattabhi Jois the founding Guru of Ashtanga yoga.  At the core of yoga is the breath which is used to free the tensions in the body. If you can breath you can do yoga!
