An Introduction to Ashtanga

2pm – 4pm

Yoga Tree Studios

Book Intro to Ashtanga Here

Ashtanga is the synchronised movement of classical yoga postures along the thread of the breath.  The movement (or vinyasa) is counted, which gives the mind a focus.  The whole practise becomes a moving meditation, a complete synchronicity and union of mind, body and breath.

In this Introduction to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga we will take a deeper look at the fundamental qualities that are the foundation of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. Breath, Bandha and drishti will be demystified, so you can make a deeper connection to the tradition of this beautiful practice.

Ness will guide you through the Primary Series which will encourage you to move beyond your perceived limitations and bring balance to both strength and flexibility. Ashtanga Vinyasa is a practice that ultimately shifts our attention inwards and gives us a greater understanding of ourselves and our internal landscape.

We will move through as much of the Primary Series as the group allows.  Modifications will be offered.

Play on Hands

1pm – 3pm

Pose Fitness Studio, Weedon

Book Play on Hands Playshop Here

Much of yoga requires us to get comfortable with our hands as foundation.
Maybe it still feels strange to have weight in the hands, perhaps the wrists feel weak? This playshop will explore the hands as foundation, how we can strengthen them, how we can get comfortable with them on the floor, and perhaps move towards having them as foundation for arm balance poses and inversion poses which often require the hands to be our ‘feet’.
