Welcome to the year of the Metal Rat!

As a celebration of Chinese New Year and a new beginning, I’ll be holding a yoga workshop reflecting on the qualities of 2020- the year of the rat.

The Rat is the first sign from the 12 animals cycle of the Chinese Zodiac, and for this reason, this special time period is considered the ultimate year of new beginnings and renewals.

Its element is metal, which is associated with the lungs and large intestines.

The emotions associated with metal are grief and courage. In the Year of the Metal Rat, find the strength to let your feelings flow.

The rat represents the following strengths: adaptable, smart, cautious, acute, alert, positive, flexible, outgoing, and cheerful. “We’re going to see the beginning of power being shared throughout the group.

Astrologers say 2020 will be another year of extensive change as the universe continues in its accelerated transitional period but, given the rat’s traits, the world will be equipped to cope.

The Year of the Rat is going to bring us an abundance of creative energy, an energy which can manifest by providing you with the power to bring your wishes into your reality. You can have the confidence that everything is possible, that you are the creator of your own life and that yes, you have the power to be whoever you want to be.

Join me, a fellow rat, for a practice that will look at ways we can increase our flexibility and strength of mind and body, to move into 2020 with grace and ease.

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a traditional practice that ultimately shifts our attention inwards and gives us a greater understanding of ourselves and encourages us to move forward with strength and ease.

We will move through as much of the Primary Series as the group allows.  Modifications will be offered throughout the sequence.
